Tamera Mowry Housley recently shared her thoughts on forgiveness and how we can sometimes struggle to accept it for ourselves.
“To piggyback on what I spoke about last week, forgiveness,” she said in an Instagram video. “I thought it was fitting to talk about one of the cornerstones of our Christian faith, and that is receiving forgiveness from Jesus Christ.”
Mowry Housley continued, “John 14:15 says, ‘If you love me, you’ll obey My commandments.’ Does that mean we are perfect? No; all of us have fallen short of the glory of God. No one on this earth is perfect. What forgiveness looks like is coming to God; not running away in shame when we do sin, [but] knowing that nothing can separate the love that Jesus Christ has for us.”
She explained that the most important part of forgiveness is turning “away from that sin,” and “striv[ing] to walk in obedience and make sure that our hearts [are] after God.”

“We also have to remember too — you may hear chatters of people pointing their finger and reminding you of your mistakes…don’t let them,” Mowry Housley continued. “Once you have asked Him to forgive that sin…that’s it. Remember who God says you are.”
Forgiveness is something the actress spoke about in a previous Instagram video, a word she said can “feel like safety.”
“It’s easier to be on the receiving end of that when we ask for forgiveness. But when you are the one being commanded to forgive, that one can be a little more challenging, especially when you have gone through something that can break you. However, we are called to do it,” Mowry Housley explained.
She continued, “God sees and knows all. He hears the whispers. We are commanded to forgive and to give that to God. He doesn’t want us to live in that anger and that pain forever, because ultimately it hinders the potential that God wants us to become. I’m a believer of that.”
These videos are part of the actress’ ongoing social media series where she shares her thoughts on faith and scripture on Instagram.
“I wanted to start something new here,” she captioned an Instagram post. “A space for my faith, however it shows up that week. Some weeks it’s a prayer or reflection, other times a song, or just me having fun in HIS name! So this is where we begin. I’ll see you every Sunday.”
