Actress Tamera Mowry-Housley understands the the importance of forgiveness in the life of a believer.
“That word alone can feel like safety,” she said in a recent Instagram video about forgiveness. “It’s easier to be on the receiving end of that when we ask for forgiveness. But when you are the one being commanded to forgive, that one can be a little more challenging, especially when you have gone through something that can break you. However, we are called to do it.”
She then referenced Mark 11:25, which says, “When you stand praying, and you hold anything against someone, forgive them.”
“That does not mean we pretend that nothing ever happened, that we didn’t feel any hurt or that we continue to receive the hurt,” the SISTER, SISTER star continued. “It doesn’t mean that you stay in a toxic relationship or you stay in a partnership that continually beats you down, and it definitely doesn’t mean you do not seek justice.”

“What it does mean is to not allow the bitterness, the anger and the hurt to consume you, because remember, God said He seeks revenge,” she emphasized. “God sees and knows all. He hears the whispers. We are commanded to forgive and to give that to God. He doesn’t want us to live in that anger and that pain forever, because ultimately it hinders the potential that God wants us to become. I’m a believer of that. It’s not always easy.”
Mowry-Housley has been sharing about her faith a lot lately. Last month, she said that the safest place she can be is in the “shelter of the Most High.”
“‘Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.’ I love that verse. That is Psalm 91:1-2, and I am learning to do exactly that,” she said in a video on Instagram.
“The safest place is in the will of God, whatever God’s will is for my life,” she explained. “To rest in Him just because you are a child of God doesn’t mean that your life is going to be easy, but what we are promised is that we are in the hands of God and that God is in control. I’m learning that everything happens for the good, for those that love the Lord, and I am learning to rest in His will, rest in His word, that God’s got you. He’s got us.”
“No matter what it may look like with your earthly eyes, know that if you dwell in the shelter, if you dwell in His will, in His world, walk in obedience, you can trust and rest and know that God’s got you and that God fights our battles,” she added.
Through it all, Mowry-Housley points to a simple but steadying truth: releasing others through forgiveness and resting in God’s will are two sides of the same faith-filled surrender that frees believers from carrying burdens they were never meant to bear alone.
