A WEDDING TO REMEMBER

A WEDDING TO REMEMBER is a romantic comedy on UPtv about a Best Man and a Maid of Honor at a wedding who must put aside their personal and professional differences by helping the bride and groom reconcile before their big day. A WEDDING TO REMEMBER has some heartfelt, funny moments, and an uplifting attitude about the sanctity of marriage, but it’s a little predictable and has a Romantic worldview with some brief New Age references and other minor worldview issues.

Olivia Owens runs a community garden in San Francisco and wants to meet a guy the organic way. Brian Wolf is a nonprofit housing developer and doesn’t think dating apps are a good way to meet a lifelong partner.

Brian and Olivia’s paths meet when Brian puts a sign in Olivia’s community garden. His nonprofit is taking over her property to build affordable housing for the community. Olivia shows up to work confused, thinking the deal for the property isn’t done. She thinks Brian must be the bearer of bad news.

Brian’s friend and coworker, a research analyst, says that the gym, work and weddings are a great place to meet women. It just so happens that Brian is going to a wedding this upcoming weekend. Olivia and her pal talk about Brian too, and her friend is convinced he must be a good guy, based on his line of work. Thankfully, Olivia can escape her work frustrations at a wedding this weekend.

Olivia hops aboard a charter bus to the wedding. Enter Brian, who has the seat right next to her. There’s tension between the two and maybe a little flirtation.

Once they arrive at the wedding location, the bride, Jenny, tries to set up Olivia, her Maid of Honor, with the groom’s Best Man, who apparently went to college with the groom, Rich, and is a great guy. At the same time, Rich is talking to his Best Man, who’s Brian, of course, about the maid of honor. Then, Olivia and the bride come down to the hotel restaurant only to find that Brian is the guy Jenny’s talking about.

Brian and Olivia do something selfless, however. They call a truce on their tension because Rich and Jenny might call off their wedding. Jenny wants a quiet life and Rich wants to live in the city. They worry they’ve moved too fast and not talked about the more important issues in a relationship.

Now, Brian and Olivia hatch a plan to bring Rich and Jenny back together before they say, “I do.”

A WEDDING TO REMEMBER is a typical TV romantic comedy. That said, the movie is fairly engaging, though a little predictable. For example, the script has many heartfelt moments, the lead players have good banter, and the movie has some funny moments. In addition, the vacation resort for the wedding is terrifically scenic, which is perfect for a romantic movie!

A WEDDING TO REMEMBER has a strong Romantic worldview where the leads desire to meet someone by fate. However, the characters have a reverence for the sanctity of marriage, including the importance of getting married for the right reasons and having the same values as one’s future spouse. The movie is also pro-small business. Regrettably, the movie contains some false New Age content and other worldview issues. For example, there are a few comments about a character having good karma. Also, a quick exchange occurs about the universe having an idea of humor and not being able to fight against the universe. Finally, a feminist moment happens when one woman says she doesn’t need a man to help her, although she does say she wants to fall in love. So, MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for older children.
