Tauren Wells just released a new live album, Here Comes The Church, an “expression of love” for God and His church.
“I still love the church,” he wrote on Instagram. “It is painfully imperfect, broken and at times, straight up dysfunctional. There’s no getting around that reality.”
Wells continued, “And somehow, at the same time, Jesus is redeeming and restoring us, covering us with grace, correcting us with truth and purifying his bride. Empowered by the Holy Spirit and surrendered to Jesus, the church is the greatest force is human history. This album is my expression of love for the only thing Jesus ever said he would build…his church. I wanna be a part of whatever God is doing and what God is doing is building his church!! Here comes hope, here comes life, here comes purpose, here comes the church!”
The artist shared that he hopes Here Comes The Church “helps you cherish and worship the Bride-groom and his bride.”

The album includes collaborations with Israel Houghton, Tasha Cobbs Leonard, Naomi Raine, Hulvey, Tiffany Hudson, Pastor Mike Jr., Red Rocks Worship, Abbie Gamboa and many others.
“You can’t talk about the church without it being a display of diversity,” Wells told The Christian Post of the project. “That’s the beautiful thing about the Church of Jesus Christ is that it has so many different complexions, so many different languages, so many different cultures, and somehow we’re called together as brothers and sisters in the Lord.”
He continued, “I’ve actually never been in an atmosphere like it. It was a prophetic moment in Austin. … People were just crying out in worship. It was unbelievable. So we left some of that on the album, but it was different.”
Speaking about the phrase “here comes the church,” Wells explained, “I felt like God put it on my heart. It does hold the album as a framework very well, and not just the album, but what God’s been doing in my life, in my family, and locally here as well.”
The title track “Here Comes The Church” is Wells’ “favorite song on the album,” he shared in an interview, via Broadway World.
“I love the church,” he said. “It might not even be cool to say right now, but I still love it. At its worst, the church is a business. At its best, the church is a family. I’ve been able to experience life within the church. It has included bumps, bruises, wounds, and things you must forgive people over. Wherever there are people, there are problems. It’s not about the building, it’s about those relationships.”
Here Comes The Church is available to stream now.
