Lacey Chabert and Scott Michael Foster love the message of hope that their new Hallmark show offers viewers.
In PARIS IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA, Chabert stars as Chelsea, a nonprofit fundraising expert who visits three ex-flames she met on a post-college trek across Europe years ago.
“You can grab life by the horns at any moment, right? What’s happened with the whole journey of revisiting the past loves…is to like to see what could have been,” Foster told Movieguide®. “And like in the show, it’s like, well, maybe your love is right in front of you the whole time.”
Chabert wants audiences to see the hope in the story.
“The hope…that my character finds in being able to move forward and also the courage and being willing to open her heart again,” she said. “There’s some pain there from the past years. She’s worried if she’s made a mistake and she really has closed off part of her heart, and she finds the courage to open up her heart again.”
Chabert has made 44 movies with Hallmark, not counting shows like this one, and is grateful for every project she’s done with the network. She continues to work with the channel because it represents her values.

She said of PARIS IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA, “The story is so layered and our writers did such a beautiful job of creating characters that I felt were so relatable in circumstances that people find themselves in. I think in general why have I gravitated to Hallmark so much”
She loves the messages of family, hope and community that Hallmark represents in its content.
“And I think we need that more than ever. And so the stories speak to my heart and I’m so thankful that they resonate with others,” she said.
In the show, Chelsea learns to embrace the unexpected. Something that Chabert has learned in her own life and in her faith is to not question how or why things have worked out the way they have.
“There were definitely some times, if we’re looking at just like in my career, where I’d be like, I don’t understand why that didn’t happen or why that one didn’t go my way. I’ve stopped questioning it because I’m so thankful for all the doors that God has opened for me,” she told Movieguide®. “…I have tremendous blessings, and so I think the unexpected is sometimes what has led me to the best moments of my life.”
Movieguide® gave the first episode of PARIS IS ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA a +3 rating.
Part of the review reads, “The episode showcases strong writing, juggling several storylines without letting anything slip through the cracks. Chabert also told TV Insider, “It’s not only a great sweeping love story; it’s also a very emotional story about overcoming grief. It doesn’t dwell on it. It’s actually uplifting. But sometimes you have to go through some pain to really get to the other side.”
The first three episodes are available now to stream on Hallmark+. A new episode will come out every week until Aug. 27.
