Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels secured his first win in over a year Sunday night.

“Man, just all glory to God,” the athlete told CBS Sports on SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL. “The stuff I’ve been through in my career so far — the setbacks I had to get to this moment — to be able to come out here and battle with this team, like it’s nothing but God really.”

His last win? Oct. 5, 2025, against the Los Angeles Chargers. Over last year, he injured his non-throwing elbow three times and went 0-7-1 as a starter, The Sporting News reported. The Commanders have won in that time, but with a different quarterback leading.

Daniels’ changed that Sunday when the Commanders defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 27-10.

But the Commanders were falling 0-10 in the first quarter.

According to the Washington Commanders, the team “scored 27 unanswered points” after Daniels spoke to his offensive line. It was that moment of leadership that everything changed for the team.

Daniels threw for 217 yards and completed 19 of 29 passes with one touchdown. That score was an eight-yard throw to wide receiver Stefon Diggs.

In the past, Daniels has glorified God on the field. In 2024, Daniels “scrambled around for nearly 13 seconds and heaved the ball from the Washington 35-yard line with no time on the clock,” per ESPN. “The pass tipped off the hands of Zach Ertz short of the goal line and into the waiting arms of Noah Brown, who was standing alone in the end zone, for a 52-yard Hail Mary touchdown that gave the Commanders an improbable 18-15 victory on Sunday and sent players, coaches and fans into a frenzy.”

After the game, Daniels told the media, “I just heard people screaming and our sideline rushing the field. That’s how I knew. That’s kind of like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Not too many people get to experience stuff like that.”

“Nothing but God, man. Nothing but God. Without Him, I didn’t even think I’d be playing this week. But all glory to God,” he added in the on-field interview.

After a year of injuries and setbacks, Daniels showed that the quarterback who authored one of the most improbable finishes in recent Commanders history is still the heart of this team. Down 10-0 in a game Washington couldn’t afford to lose, he rallied his offensive line and turned the night around.
