Feeling lost? Christian singer Anne Wilson has a message for you.

“I don’t know who I am anymore,” she wrote across a recent Instagram video. The clips then transitioned to a series of messages, like “‘I am accepted’ Romans 15:7,” “‘I am God’s child’ John 1:12” and “‘I am loved’ Ephesians 2:4-5.”

In the video’s caption, Wilson wrote, “You don’t have to wonder who you are when you know who you belong to.”

The post also features Wilson’s new song, “Who I Am To You, which came out of a period of darkness in her life.

“This year was one of the hardest years so far,” she said on the MORNING CRUISE radio show. “It’s been one of the hardest years of my life. Especially back in the spring, I had gone through a really, I guess, just like a dark season of identity and, like, believing the lies of the enemy about myself and not God and what God says about me.”

While she struggled with feelings of insecurity, Wilson said she ultimately found strength in her faith.

“The Lord reminded me just of His goodness, and He was so present, and giving me what I needed,” she said.

In a statement about the song, Wilson shared, “‘Who I Am To You’ is a reminder that our identity isn’t defined by the labels the world puts on us, it’s defined by what God says is true about us.”

“This song is all about trading the lies, insecurities and negative labels we’ve believed for the truth of who God created us to be,” she continued. “I want this to be an encouraging, faith-filled movement where we remind each other who we really are in Christ and choose to walk confidently in that truth.”

In a recent interview with Holler, Wilson credited a music industry pal for also helping her battle insecurity — country star Lainey Wilson.

“We had been friends before [working on ‘Praying Woman’],” she explained. “But as we got to work on the song together and seeing her passion behind it and her belief, it was inspiring, just going, ‘We can link arms and go on this journey together, put the song out there and see where it goes.’”

Wilson said her collaborators’ confidence in her “definitely reassured me that I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing in the right genre.”

Wilson’s new song is an encouragement for anyone who might be feeling unsure of their identity, pointing them towards God.
