Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba shared a message of hope with a fan who was recently baptized.

While the athlete was signing autographs, the fan asked if he had “a message he had to share with new Christians or those who are curious about faith in Seattle.”

“Life, you know, it’s always ups and downs, but just having that foundation and trust and love is something. Our Father just loves us all the time,” the wide receiver declared. “So just knowing that and living that, you wake up grateful. You wake up, you find the better things in life, you know, whether good or bad things happen.”

“So, I would say keep growing, keep your faith high because there’s going to be battles and stuff. But just like I said, knowing you have that foundation is everything,” he encouraged.

Smith-Njigba often speaks about his faith.

Following the Seahawks’ Super Bowl LX win in February, he said, “Jesus won today. No matter what would have happened, Jesus won. Give all the glory to Him.”

In April, he became the highest-paid receiver in the NFL as he signed a four-year, $168 million contract extension.

After the contract was announced, the reigning Super Bowl champion posted on X, “I’m here to serve the Lord.”

He then told the media in a press conference, “God is great. I’m super blessed.”

“…it’s a beautiful thing when God puts you in a place to succeed, and this is home for me,” Smith-Njigba added. “For me to be extended here for a few more years, I’m just excited and blessed, and I understand where my feet are and understand the opportunity that’s at stake, and just like always, I’m ready to attack.”

Smith-Njigba went on to thank his family, who have played a huge part in his journey.

“I have to thank my family, my father, my mother, just how they raised me. I’m here to serve others, serve the Lord, and whatever these guys need from me, they know I’m willing to do,” he explained. “There’s not enough words to show my excitement and show my love for the city and this organization.”

“Ever since I got drafted, I just felt the love and just really just understanding me. It’s an honor to feel that confidence come from your teammates and come from the third floor and your head coach, and for us to get this deal done speaks volumes. Definitely just a little weight off my shoulders just to go out there and let it fly,” the receiver emphasized.

Whether he’s speaking to a single fan at an autograph signing or addressing the media after inking a nine-figure deal, Smith-Njigba’s message stays consistent: his faith comes first, and everything else flows from that foundation.

The Seahawks will face off against the Arizona Cardinals at 3:25 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20.
