Christian country music star Anne Wilson does not have it all together.
“I’ve been wrestling with my identity this year, and I’m so thankful for the people God has placed in my life who remind me of what’s true and point me back to Jesus,” she shared on Instagram last week. “If you’ve ever struggled to believe who God says you are, I want you to know you’re not alone.”
Over the last six months, Wilson has struggled with feeling “not enough” more than she ever has in her life. But she knows that her identity is founded in God as his child.
“I’ve been reminded through so much scripture and through so much friends and family and mentors that I am enough in Jesus and I am worthy in Jesus,” she explained. “But there have been days that have just felt so impossible to get through.”
She reached out to the viewer, saying that if they feel that way too, they are not alone. And just because Wilson shares the gospel, writes devotionals and sings on stages doesn’t mean she has it all together.
“We all wrestle with the same things,” she said.
Many of her followers thanked her for her transparency in the comments. A lot of them confessed they also struggle with identity.
On July 24, Wilson shared a clip of her song, “Me & Jesus,” which speaks of the different stages and trials in life. Her message is that no matter what’s happening in your life, you’re not alone, as Isaiah 41:10 says.
Some of the lyrics are:

It’s me and Jesus
Wilson wrote the song after the death a dear friend who was only 22. She felt full of sorrow and questions. She knows she’ll never have all the answers, but she knows God does. He’s her comfort amidst all of her grief and pain.
The song “points to the One who holds us when our hearts are breaking. If you’ve ever walked through grief, I hope these words remind you that you’re not alone,” she said.
Wilson is currently on her The Stars Tour through Nov. 13.
