Rocker Brian Welch says his faith sometimes feels “too good to be true.”

“I will never say in this room some of the things that I did, you know, that I needed to be forgiven for, because they’re just too dark,” the Korn member said during an episode of TBN’s PRAISE. “And He forgave me of all of that stuff.”

Welch commented on “the magnitude of the freedom to be forgiven of such dark things,” adding, “That’s what Jesus said, and so that’s what happened.”

“If you would have told me all of this before I actually met Jesus, I would have said, ‘That’s too good to be true, you’re crazy, that’s a fairy tale.’ I would have made fun of you, you know?” he continued. “But Jesus, but His grace, He showed me that it’s real.”

Earlier this month, Welch spoke to a crowd at SoulStock Festival, sharing his testimony.

“I ended up leaving the band for a while and I laid it down, as they say,” he said of his decision to leave Korn. “You lay at the altar, you surrender your life. And the disciples left everything to follow Christ. And so I left my band. I told them, ‘I don’t wanna do this anymore.’ And I was so encouraged and just joyful about Jesus, I didn’t care.”

Welch continued, “I knew at that moment that I had found something that was gonna be the rest of my life. People were saying it was a phase, but I was, like, ‘I don’t care what they say. They don’t understand what I just experienced. I found the meaning of life. I found the meaning of my life. And I don’t know what I’m gonna do with music. I don’t know, but I know that I found the reason for me breathing is this. And I don’t care who says it’s not gonna last. I know it’s gonna last.’”

“And I knew it then and I know it now. And it’s proof now, because it was real,” he explained. “And it’s messy and some people don’t understand it, but I know that I know that I know, through people that I trusted that counseled me through it, and just seeing the things that have been happening, what God has done, I know that I’m supposed to be there. And it’s been a crazy journey.”

He eventually rejoined Korn in 2013, believing that God called him to share the good news with his heavy metal fans.

In a 2019 I AM SECOND video, the musician admitted, “It’s not the most popular thing to do at a rock concert is talk about Christ. I’m doing it because it’s the most realest thing that’s ever happened to me in my life.”

Praise God for how He transformed Welch’s life.
