Should You Watch It?

Yes! This live musical brings the story of Joshua to life. This exciting stage show features a well-written script, incredible stage effects, and beautiful songs that give this well-known story a new twist. While the musical faithfully retells the familiar Bible story, the songs and exciting stage design give it a fresh feel.

It retells the story of Joshua, starting from his journey out of Egypt with the rest of the Israelites, through their wandering in the desert, to the legendary battle of Jericho. Characters pray, stand strong in their faith, and share it with others who worship false gods. Those who worship false gods receive rebuke.

While many moments show characters doubting God’s goodness, those who stay faithful to God ultimately receive reward. The musical includes moral moments featuring strong family relationships and characters who show kindness to each other and share what they have to help others.

Parents, take note. The battle scenes don’t get graphic but still feel intense. Encounters with giants and scenes inside temples to false gods might frighten young children. You’ll also see light immorality: one character drinks too much, others call Rahab a prostitute, and the Israelites turn on each other as they argue over whether to keep faith in God.

The Story

NO SPOILERS — WE KEEP THE SURPRISES

This live musical performance vividly recounts Joshua and the Israelites' journey. It begins with Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt and toward the Promised Land. The story follows the Israelites as they wander the desert and face tests of faith. As the years pass and the battles grow more dangerous, only one city stands between them and the Promised Land. As they prepare for battle, Joshua’s faith faces the ultimate test.

Is It Any Good?

Four stars mean this is about as good as this kind of production gets, transforming a familiar biblical account into a spectacular stage musical with powerful performances, catchy songs, and impressive visual effects.

The musical retells Joshua’s story, building toward the dramatic battle of Jericho. Catchy, well-written songs give this familiar Bible account a fresh feel, while the script explores the moments of doubt that Joshua and the Israelites face along the way. Their struggles add emotional depth, highlighting the challenge of trusting God when the future seems uncertain.

The visual effects also stand out. Traditional set pieces combine with a massive screen backdrop that transforms the stage into sweeping desert landscapes, bustling outdoor scenes, and battlefields filled with the illusion of towering armies. The seamless blend of physical sets and digital imagery creates an impressive sense of scale, making this biblical adventure feel larger than life.

The Worldview

This musical carries a strong Christian worldview. It retells the biblical story of Joshua, from the Israelites’ exodus from Egypt to his famous victory at Jericho. Characters pray, talk about their faith, and share it with anyone who wants to know God better.

Some characters doubt God, but the story rewards those who stay faithful. Some people also worship false gods, and the show rebukes them. Beyond the faith content, you’ll also find plenty of moral themes.

Joshua loves his wife and daughters deeply, and characters show real kindness to one another. For example, the Israelite spies share their food with Rahab. The message rings clear: God keeps His promises to those who trust Him.

As Joshua 21:45 (NIV) puts it, “Not one of all the LORD’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.”

01

When things got difficult for the Israelites, many began doubting God and wishing they were back in Egpyt. Do you have any “Egypts” in your past that you are tempted to look back on when your own spiritual walk gets hard? Numbers 11:4-6

02

Rahab had heard many things about God before encountering the Israelites. How did hearing those stories turn her fear into active faith? Joshua 2:9-11

03

Before the battle of Jericho, Joshua meets a mysterious man with a drawn sword and asks, “Are you for us, or for our enemies?” The man replies, “No; but I am the commander of the army of the Lord.” What does this tell us about assuming God is “on our side” versus making sure we are on His side? Joshua 5:13-14
