The Story
NO SPOILERS — WE KEEP THE SURPRISESIn a small New York town, Sonny and his friend Sam discover an old, unfinished book and a mysterious ventriloquist dummy named Slappy. At first, Slappy seems able to help them with whatever they need.
Then the dummy begins using his powers for evil. As Halloween approaches, Sonny, Sam, and Sonny’s sister Sarah must find a way to stop Slappy before the monsters he awakens take over the town.
Is It Any Good?
Three stars means this is an enjoyable, entertaining movie with some noticeable weaknesses. The story is lighthearted and humorous, and the positive lessons give the Halloween chaos a sturdy moral foundation.
