Despite a recent statement that he’d keep playing SPIDER-MAN forever if he could, Tom Holland confirmed there’s already a plan to pass on the Spidey suit.

“There’s a whole plan that we have been working on for, I would say, since we finished SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME,” Holland said last week on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast. “It’s laid out. It’s gonna change for sure, but I have a really clear vision to the passing on of the baton, and I think it’s really exciting.”

He’s actually looking forward to it.

“I know I get really excited when we have these meetings and chat about it. But that is the thing I want to do most in this character, for sure,” he emphasized.

At the Los Angeles premiere for SPIDER-MAN: A BRAND NEW DAY last Monday, Holland said he’d return to the role of Spider-Man again and again if he got the chance.

“I will do it for as long as they’ll have me. So if this movie does good, I guess we’ll see!” he said.

He hopes that one day Miles Morales will come to life in a live-action Spider-Man movie and wants to “shepherd the lucky young kid who gets that job,” he said.

For him, filming the movies with the cast and crew feels like home.

“When we all get together, it always feels like something magical happens, and to get to do it time and time again is something that will never really sink in for me. It still feels like this is my first-ever premiere for this character. It has been the gift of my life,” Holland said.

He loves that there are so many different kinds of Spider-Man movies.

“We have SPIDER-NOIR that came out a few weeks ago, we have my version, we have the stuff that Sony’s been doing, we have the animated movies that Sony makes — which are just the best Spider-Man movies that have ever been made, those animated movies. The heart in those movies is out of this world,” he said.

BRAND NEW DAY came out on Friday, July 31. It has 98% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 90% critics score.

Part of Movieguide®’s review of the move reads, “SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY is a terrific, heartfelt action adventure movie. It features exciting action scenes, great character development, compelling performances, and many touching moments. The surprise in BRAND NEW DAY turns Peter Parker into a Christ figure.” However, it does have a lot of obscenities and violence, so Movieguide® advises caution for older teens and adults.
