Fans want to see one of their favorite Hallmark couples cross over to HGTV.
It all began when Alexa PenaVega, who’s starred in movies with her husband, Carlos PenaVega, shared a snap of herself doing a home reno project in her living room. She followed that with a video of her and Carlos tackling a kitchen project, TV Insider observed.
One fan commented, “Omg Alexa! I would love to see you and Carlos do a renovation show!!! Y’all are way better than Chip and Joanna [Gaines]!!” Another said, “This looks amazing! Loving the wooden beams and that stone fireplace.”
Another person wrote, “House renovation show when!?”
The two actors have a very diverse TV resumé as Hallmark and GAF stars. Alexa starred in SPY KIDS, while Carlos is a BIG TIME RUSH star.

If HGTV doesn’t give them a reno series, Hallmark could. Last year, it launched its first home makeover series called HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS. It starred Hallmark actor and woodworker Luke Macfarlane alongside designer Olivia Westbrook, House Beautiful reported.
“Building has always been a part of what my family did together,” MacFarlane told House Beautiful. “My father was a wonderful teacher, and when I was 12, my parents did an addition to our family kitchen and my sisters and I were unpaid general labor.”
He and his siblings had a heyday hanging drywall, pulling out electrical wiring and pulling out old foundation. It gave them a good understanding of what goes into building a home. In high school and college, Macfarlane took on carpentry jobs while he pursued his other passion — to be an actor.
In HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS, he and Westbrook got to renovate a home for a family in need. Westbrook enjoyed getting to bless families through her job.
“I once heard a wise man say that if you desire something, give it to someone else,” she told House Beautiful. “Working with these families to help transform the homes that hold so many memories while also honoring their loved ones was my way of doing just that — giving them what I had longed for.”
Since its release, HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS has been the first and only home design/reno show to ever be on Hallmark. The show was a hit with viewers and has a 7.6/10 rating on IMDB.
Hallmark may not want to dive in headfirst into reno shows…but it clearly may have a fanbase for it.
