Disney rolled out its biggest movies, shows and theme park plans for the next three years at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, held Aug. 14-16 at the Anaheim Convention Center in California.

It was also new CEO Josh D’Amaro’s first D23 running the show since Bob Iger’s exit from the top job.

“I believe that in order to lead the company, you have to know what it feels like to be a fan. And I do,” D’Amaro told fans gathered for the event, which draws tens of thousands of Disney devotees every other year.

That fan-first pitch mattered more than usual this time. D’Amaro used the stage to argue Disney still has what no rival can buy: decades of characters families already love. The rest of the weekend backed him up.

FROZEN 3 got the loudest reaction. Disney confirmed Anna and Kristoff’s wedding will anchor the story, due in theaters Nov. 24, 2027, with a new villainess who tells the sisters, “The sisters of Arendelle, we finally meet.”

“This royal wedding has been a long time coming,” Kristen Bell said of her character’s big day, before the celebration gets interrupted by a portal Elsa accidentally opens.

Movieguide® has tracked FROZEN’s family appeal since the original movie and reported last year that director Jennifer Lee said the studio needed two more movies just to answer the questions FROZEN II left hanging. Writer Kristen Anderson-Lopez and composer Robert Lopez return with new songs, and Josh Gad debuted a tune for Olaf’s love interest, Samantha.

FROZEN 3 wasn’t alone on a crowded slate built for families. THE BLUEY MOVIE arrives Aug. 6, 2027, followed by a live-action TANGLED in 2028, ZOOTOPIA 3 and INCREDIBLES 3, which Disney says will finally put the Parr children in the spotlight. ICE AGE: BOILING POINT, starring Queen Latifah, lands Feb. 5, 2027.

Parents weighing PG-13 fare got news too. AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY holds its Dec. 18 date, and STAR WARS: STARFIGHTER, starring Ryan Gosling and directed by Shawn Levy, opens May 28, 2027.

On television, AHSOKA returns for a second season Jan. 20, 2027, and PERCY JACKSON AND THE OLYMPIANS brings back Ming-Na Wen and adds Andra Day for its Nov. 20 third season.

Disney’s parks got a refresh too. Magic Kingdom’s Villains Land will pair a Maleficent coaster with an Evil Queen dark ride, and Piston Peak National Park, a CARS-themed expansion, opens with two new rides. Hollywood Studios is building Monstropolis for 2027, and Epcot’s Spaceship Earth is getting its first restoration in 20 years.

The weekend closed on a personal note for Disney’s outgoing leader. Disney named Bob Iger, who spent 21 years running the company across two stints, a Disney Legend, its highest honor, with Robert Downey Jr. and Harrison Ford on hand to send him off.

For Movieguide® readers, the takeaway is a studio still betting big on stories built around marriage, family and second chances — even as it keeps stacking its calendar with superhero spectacle. FROZEN 3 leads the pack when it hits theaters in November 2027, and Movieguide® will review it, as always, with an eye toward what it teaches the kids in the seats.
