THE CHOSEN’s Jonathan Roumie has officially wrapped work on the hit show.
“If you’re seeing this video, then I have officially filmed my very last scene ever on THE CHOSEN,” he said in a recent Instagram video. “More to come. Stay tuned.”
In his post’s caption, Roumie wrote, “My friends…the hour has finally come,” adding 2 Timothy 4:6-7 — “As for me, I am already being poured out as a libation, and the time has come for my departure. I have fought the good fight; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith.”
“Thank you all for supporting and praying for me, the show @thechosentvseries, my cast and crew and my team all these years,” he continued. “Stay tuned. More to come, when I find the words. With love, Jonathan.”
The show’s creator, Dallas Jenkins, spoke to Deseret News about working on THE CHOSEN’s final season.
“The fact that this is the final season, there’s been the occasional people who are getting a little emotional or getting a little bit confused with their emotions — trying to figure out how they’re going to act,” he shared. “But truly, whether it’s Season 1 or Season 7, we are focused in the same way on capturing the truth.”

B.J. Forman, art department coordinator for the show, admitted that the end of the show is “bittersweet” but said, “We’ve done what we came to do. … It’s a finite story, so we’ll give it justice and then we’ll move on to the next one.”
THE CHOSEN’s cast have also shared their feelings about the series coming to a close.
“It’s an unusual thing because the show will be nearing its conclusion for us as human beings and as actors,” Noah James, who plays Andrew, told Movieguide®. “We know that our time is coming to an end, as completely juxtaposed with [our characters] feeling like their time has come to an end, and then having the resurrection and then having the joy…that brings in their lives. So, it’s going to be a really bittersweet season, I think.”
THE CHOSEN still has plenty of stories left, though; Season 6 of the show premieres this November.
“Season 6 is the living out of what Jesus said: ‘Not my will, but yours,’” Jenkins said of the upcoming episodes. “Everyone knows the basics of this part of the story, but not everyone knows the ‘why’ of the crucifixion and the extraordinary events of these 24 hours. We realized this not only deserved a season of television but a standalone full-length theatrical event as well. We wrote and filmed all of it with this in mind.”
THE CHOSEN’s final season is expected to premiere March 31, 2028.
