Jasmine Roth just gave fans an unfiltered look at what it actually costs to juggle motherhood, pregnancy and a network filming schedule.
“There are days I doubt my decision to be out of the house but seeing first hand the difference my work makes really brings it full circle,” the HGTV star said in an Instagram video posted Friday, July 24.
Roth captioned the clip a “day in the life of a working mom,” and the timing was no accident. Her new series, ROAST MY RENTAL, premiered the same night at 10 p.m. ET on HGTV, with new episodes streaming the next day on HBO Max.
She’s doing all of it while pregnant with her third daughter. “I’m pregnant with my third daughter and these past four months, I’ve been filming a brand-new HGTV show with comedian Leslie Jones,” she said in the post. “We’re flipping some of the worst short-term rentals in just 72 hours. Filming this is exactly as chaotic and hilarious as you’re imagining.”
In ROAST MY RENTAL, comedian Leslie Jones tours the country’s most disastrous short-term rentals — the ones plagued by “misleading listings and brutally honest reviews” — before Roth and her design team step in to fix the place in just three days. Roth already hosts another HGTV renovation series, HELP! I WRECKED MY HOUSE, but this one pairs her with a comedian instead of a nervous homeowner.

“Millions of people check into vacation rentals each year, but sometimes what’s posted online is not reality,” Jones told HGTV. “There are rentals with great photos, but the reviews tell a very different story … and I’m gonna find out why.”
Roth and her family relocated to Park City, Utah, a few years back, but production on the new show stayed in Southern California — meaning months of living out of a suitcase for the mother of two, soon to be three.
“My family and I moved to Park City, Utah a couple years ago and this show was filmed in Southern California which means there were a lot of plane flights, suitcases and FaceTimes with the family during this job,” she wrote.
She closed the post with a note that resonated well beyond the renovation world. “I’m on a mission to build my happiness one little moment at a time and I’m taking you with me on this journey,” Roth said. “I believe we’re all in this together and I love sharing every single day.”
Fans filled the comments with encouragement, several of them fellow parents who recognized the tug-of-war. “So glad of the new opportunities coming your way,” one follower wrote, while another added, “I love your sharing and can’t wait to see you and Leslie.”
For Christian parents navigating that same tension between calling and family — whether the calling involves a TV set or something far quieter — Roth’s honesty lands as a welcome break from the usual influencer gloss. She didn’t paper over the doubt. She named it, then pointed past it toward purpose: work that visibly helps people, and a family held together by FaceTime calls and homecomings.
Movieguide® hasn’t reviewed ROAST MY RENTAL yet, but the premise itself carries a familiar note for readers who value redemption stories — Jones and Roth aren’t just mocking bad rentals, they’re giving owners “a chance at redemption when the next guests come to stay.” That’s a small, human picture of the balance every working parent hopes to strike, dressed up as a home renovation show.
