HOME TOWN’s Erin Napier has a special surprise for everyone — her new book, “The Christmas House.”

“People Magazine just released some very exciting news that I’ve been keeping secret,” Napier said in a recent Instagram video.

She then held up the children’s book, illustrated by Adam Trest.

The story is about love, Christmas traditions and how homes can be special places that keep those traditions alive. Napier has been working on the project for a year.

“It’s extremely special,” Napier explained. “It should be in stores everywhere Oct. 6…Merry Christmas!”

The book is a sequel to Napier’s other children’s book, “The Lantern House.”

Part of “The Christmas House’s” description reads, “Welcome home to the Christmas House, where vanilla and cinnamon waft from the kitchen, a Christmas tree glows from the window, and Grandpa’s old cracked, wooden Christmas star is the most important decoration.”

Napier loves Christmas and has many Christmas traditions she shares with her husband and two daughters.

“The thing that feels so good about it that my children don’t yet have the language for, is when we do these traditions year after year we are bringing our childhoods back to the surface, we are celebrating the people we don’t have anymore by making their recipes and hanging their stockings, and our houses are the center of all of this,” Napier said.

In the caption to her video, Napier said the book is for everyone who’s ready to decorate the day after Halloween and who misses someone at Christmastime.

Napier wrote last year, “For me, it smells like wood smoke and pancakes and bacon cooked for supper. It looks like movie nights every night in December, all of us in pajamas, piled together. Those are the moments my mind goes back to when I’m having a long day — the ordinary rhythms that remind me where I belong.”

More than anything, she loves the quality time with her family and making memories together. Christmas is a time to slow down and soak in.

When the holidays come around nowadays, the HGTV star says all she wants is time.

“Time with our girls, time with my parents, time together while everyone is healthy and under the same roof. People talk about how fleeting these years are, but you don’t fully understand it until you watch your children growing right in front of you,” she said.

It’s Aug. 21, but Napier is already stirring up that Christmas yearning. If you can’t wait to bake cookies and put up Christmas lights, you’re definitely not alone.
