Egypt Sherrod, the design and real estate personality best known for hosting HGTV’s MARRIED TO REAL ESTATE, is teasing a comeback.
“Sometimes a setback is a setup for a QUANTUM LEAP. We are back to business,” Sherrod wrote alongside an Instagram clip posted Aug. 28, showing her and her husband and MARRIED TO REAL ESTATE co-host, Mike Jackson, mid-renovation in a video she captioned “New show loading!”
The clip marks the couple’s first real glimpse of new television since HGTV canceled MARRIED TO REAL ESTATE last year. Movieguide® reported at the time that the show was one of four HGTV pulled in a single week, alongside FARMHOUSE FIXER, IZZY DOES IT,and BARGAIN BLOCK, as cable ratings continued to slide.
Sherrod and Jackson took the news in stride. “While the chain of events leading up to this is disheartening, we are deeply grateful,” the couple said in a joint statement at the time, adding, “Some blessings show up in disguise.”
Fans flooded the comments on the new clip asking where and when the show would air. “Stay tuned!!! Not announced yet,” Sherrod replied to one follower, telling another simply, “Not telling yet.”

Behind the scenes, the couple has already announced two projects in development: HOME ABROAD WITH EGYPT AND MIKE, which follows them renovating homes internationally in countries including Vietnam, Spain, Panama and Oaxaca, Mexico, and DESERVING DESIGN. “These shows reflect all the things that are important to us,” Sherrod said of the new projects. “We believe in giving back and paying it forward…these projects speak to our desire to help people, to build legacy and to use real estate and design to build impact.”
Traveling for HOME ABROAD has come with its own perks. “It’s been great to travel with my husband, see the world and still do what we love,” Sherrod said, noting the new production schedule is friendlier to family life than a traditional cable season. “We literally can do three seasons in a year now, so it’s definitely more contained.”
Sherrod has leaned on her faith throughout the transition. Back in February, she posted a reminder to herself and her followers: “Just don’t underestimate what GOD can do” for those dedicated to the work.
That mix of gratitude and grit has defined the couple’s post-HGTV chapter. MARRIED TO REAL ESTATE ran four seasons and made Sherrod and Jackson two of HGTV’s most recognizable faces, but neither host seems eager to rush back to network television just to fill airtime. Sherrod still owns the trademark to MARRIED TO REAL ESTATE and has said she and Jackson would rather build their own vision than return to a templated format.
For Christian viewers who have watched networks quietly strip faith and family off the schedule, Sherrod and Jackson’s insistence on doing television their way, on their own timeline, is worth rooting for. No network or premiere date has been confirmed for either new show.
