Mario voice actor Chris Pratt is ready for a third animated adventure, but he said he hasn’t started recording his next trip to the Mushroom Kingdom.

“Those guys are amazing, and the minute they want to have me back to do it, I’d be down to do it,” Pratt told ScreenRant on the red carpet at the premiere of THE TERMINAL LIST’s second season.

Fans hoping that Mario already has another adventure in the recording booth will need to wait a little longer. Asked about that next round of work, Pratt said he had not begun: “No, not yet, but I’m so grateful.”

He also offered his impression of where the creative team stands, with a qualification that matters for anyone eager to mark a calendar.

“I think they’re just probably figuring out what that story looks like right now,” he explained.

That is an enthusiastic yes to returning, not an announcement that a third movie has officially received the go-ahead. ScreenRant reported that Universal has not announced a greenlight, and Pratt’s answer does not establish a production start or a release date.

THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE is the the follow-up to 2023’s THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE, which earned more than $1.3 billion worldwide. The sequel reached US theaters April 1, 2026.

The second adventure reunited Pratt’s Mario with actor Charlie Day’s Luigi, actress Anya Taylor-Joy’s Princess Peach and actor Jack Black’s Bowser. It also brought in actor Donald Glover as Yoshi and actress Brie Larson as Rosalina, widening a world that already gave the brothers plenty of trouble.

For families catching up with the existing adventure, Movieguide®’s review of THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE finds more than colorful creatures and elaborate action. It highlights the bonds between brothers and sisters, helping others and doing the right thing, along with heroes who show love for their enemies. Mario even saves Bowser Junior from a dragon despite the trouble the villain has caused.

The review also flags a line suggesting that the universe judges evil, a theological idea that conflicts with the story’s other reference to a Maker.

The review advises caution for preteen children because of intense action violence, frightening creatures and peril. Parents should weigh those specifics rather than assume an animated Nintendo adventure will suit every child. That guidance applies to the movie Movieguide® reviewed, not to an unannounced third story.

For now, Pratt has given fans a reason to smile without giving them a date to circle: he wants another turn as Mario, whenever the team is ready to call.
