Former New York Mets outfielder Carlos Beltran received the highest honor in baseball when he was inducted into the MLB Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York, on Sunday.
According to Sports Spectrum, Beltran, the “sixth player raised in Puerto Rico to be enshrined in the Hall of Fame — played in 20 major-league seasons with seven different clubs, but he’s perhaps best known for his 6.5 seasons with the New York Mets. He made five of his nine All-Star appearances as a Met, and he chose to enter the Hall of Fame representing the team.”

While at the Hall of Fame induction, the athlete praised God.

“First of all, I just want to thank God for this opportunity to be here today,” Beltran declared. “There is no doubt that this is incredible, to be surrounded by so many greats.”
For Beltran, baseball was never about winning awards but rather about spreading the Gospel.
“When God gives you the platform to be an athlete, it’s not only about playing the sport,” he explained. “It’s about using the platform that God has given you to do well for others.”
“Never — not even once — I dreamed about standing here today,” he continued later on. “Next to this plaque, I see a God who never stopped showing me grace through my career. I see my parents, who gave me their best. I see my brothers, my family, my whole family. I see my children. When I see this plaque, I see [my wife Jessica], who never stopped believing in me.”
“I see my coaches. I see my teammates. I see my fans, my little league coaches. I see the students of the Carlos Beltran Baseball Academy in Puerto Rico, pursuing their dreams through education and baseball. I see my island, Puerto Rico,” he added.
Beltran shared the news of his induction in a video he posted on social media.
Surrounded by his family and friends, he listened in on a phone call as he heard the news.
“Whoa! I can’t explain all the emotions I’ve just experienced. Can’t believe I’m part of the Hall of Fame now. It’s just crazy. I think about all the training nights and the times I doubted myself,” he wrote in the caption. “This achievement means a lot to me, but also to everyone who has supported me: my family, my friends, and of course, the fans. Thanks for always being there!”
Beltran’s induction into the MLB Hall of Fame honors a legendary 20-year career while highlighting his deep faith, gratitude to his family and community and dedication to using his platform to glorify God.
