Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen has passed another franchise milestone, but after breaking the team’s touchdown passing record, he pointed to God’s plan rather than taking all the credit.

“God has placed me here for a reason, and I’m going to continue to trust His plan,” Allen said after Sunday’s win over the Baltimore Ravens, according to the Bills’ postgame report.

Allen threw his 259th career touchdown pass during Buffalo’s 36-10 victory on Nov. 1, moving past Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly for the most in team history. Kelly was there to see it happen, watching Allen find wide receiver DJ Moore for an 11-yard score in the fourth quarter.

The win pushed Buffalo to 6-1, giving fans another reason to think about a Super Bowl run. For Allen, though, the record offered a chance to recognize the people who helped him reach it.

“There are a lot of guys that have put a lot of work into this that have helped me get to this spot right here, and I don’t take that for granted to be the quarterback for the Buffalo Bills,” he said.

That mix of gratitude and trust isn’t new for Allen. In an interview published by ESPN on Sept. 18, 2025, he talked about the pressure to finally win a Super Bowl — and why he was learning not to let that pursuit swallow everything else.

“You have to continue to keep giving yourself chances, and I feel like, one thing that I’ve for sure learned this last offseason is trusting in God’s timing,” the athlete explained. “It’s never wrong, and when it’s meant to happen, it’ll happen, and you just got to continue to keep putting yourselves in opportunities where it could happen.”

The distinction matters: Allen wasn’t saying preparation or effort no longer counted. He was talking about continuing to create opportunities without pretending he could control the outcome, a perspective that leaves room for both fierce competition and faith.

There was a personal side to that shift, too. ESPN’s profile followed an offseason in which Allen won the league’s MVP award, restructured his contract and married actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld on May 31, 2025.

Asked about those milestones, he put marrying his best friend above the other accomplishments. He also described wanting to be present with family while continuing to do everything he could to help Buffalo win.

Sunday’s game gave him plenty to work on before the celebration. The Bills struggled to sustain their offense in the first half, then regrouped as Allen completed 13 of 15 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns after halftime.

Buffalo outscored Baltimore 20-3 in the second half. The turnaround made the afternoon more than a record-book moment: it showed a team correcting mistakes instead of letting a frustrating stretch define the game.

The help Allen acknowledged showed up on the other side of the ball as well. Buffalo’s defense held Baltimore to 145 total yards and forced three turnovers, although the Ravens lost their starting and backup quarterbacks to injuries during the game.

Next comes a road meeting with the Minnesota Vikings on Nov. 9 at 8:15 p.m. ET. Allen’s latest record is already in the books; his words keep the focus on gratitude, the work still ahead and trusting God with what he cannot control.
