JINGLE SMELLS is a new family-friendly, faith-filled holiday comedy about the joy of giving during the Christmas season. It stars John Schneider, Eric Roberts, Ben Davies,
Jim Breuer, Victoria Jackson, Dylan Postl, and James Storm.
The movie begins as Nick Gutman, a war veteran, is released from prison by his father (John Schneider), who happens to be the chief of police. In an effort to keep Nick out of trouble, he gives him a job as a garbage man.
Meanwhile, a large toy company called Cash Bros must cancel a line of new toys after the movie star upon whom they’re based, Mason Stone, is canceled due to his belief in God.
Having returned home from serving in Afghanistan, Nick has struggled to get his feet underneath him. Also, thinks his father’s new love interest dislikes him. Nick reluctantly accepts the job as a garbage man and not soon after is assigned a mysterious new job. Tasked with emptying a warehouse full of identical boxes, Nick’s curiosity gets the better of him. He discovers that, inside the boxes, is the entire stock of Cash Bros toys that are headed to the landfill.
As Nick struggles to find his purpose, he realizes that the toys might be his ticket to earning more money and paying back his father. However, when he becomes aware of the poverty surrounding him in his own town, he decides to use the toys to bring faith back to the community under a new alter-ego, “Jingle Smells.” Nick must face his past trauma, his distance from God, and a greedy businessman before he finds his purpose.
Will Nick get caught and sent to jail again, or will Christian charity prevail?
JINGLE SMELLS is a funny, uplifting, fresh take on a Christmas comedy. Unlike most comedies, it’s full of faith, prayer, church, and the real reason why Christmas is full of joy and selfless giving. JINGLE SMELLS also has a refreshing take on the connection between faith in Jesus Christ and the person of Santa. That said, the story sags a little bit in the middle. Some judicious re-cutting would improve the pacing. However, JINGLE SMELLS is still engaging, funny and heartwarming, as well as faith-filled, pro-American and, best of all, safe for the whole family to enjoy together.
