Should You Watch It?
Yes—if you want a gripping crime drama with genuine spiritual and emotional depth. The first season is highly entertaining, and some episodes take on an almost thriller-like tone that hooks you quickly.
What sets VINDICATION apart is its strong Christian, moral worldview. Prayer, Scripture, church, redemption, forgiveness, and sacrifice are part of the characters’ lives. The show also makes clear that criminal actions are wrong rather than praising them.
The content is not completely mild. Violence, sexual references, and drug-related material appear throughout the season. Older children may be ready for it, but parents should use discernment for younger viewers. For teenagers and adults, VINDICATION is worth watching.
The Story
NO SPOILERS — WE KEEP THE SURPRISESDetective Gary Travis handles a whirlwind of cases while trying to care for his family and live out his faith. His new detective trainee, Kris Tanner, joins him as the cases and family problems begin to overlap.
The season follows Travis, his family, and Kris through investigations involving criminals, victims, and difficult personal struggles. At the center is Travis’s journey toward recognizing that he cannot solve every case or fix every family problem without God’s help.
Is It Any Good?
Four stars means VINDICATION is an excellent, highly entertaining crime drama. The series has many of the qualities of great crime shows, with individual cases full of twists and turns.
Several episodes take on an almost thriller tone that strongly hooks the audience. The Christian worldview adds realism, emotional depth, and spiritual depth, making the show inspiring and moving rather than merely procedural. The family drama also gives the cases greater personal weight.
The Worldview
VINDICATION presents a very strong Christian, biblical, and moral worldview within a dark crime-drama setting. Its detective works to solve crimes, help victims and even criminals, right wrongs, love his family, and deal honestly with family problems. Prayer, Bible quotations, church involvement, gratitude for God’s work, forgiveness, and honesty are all honored.
The series especially focuses on Travis’s walk with the Lord. He initially believes he can solve every case and fix his family without help, but the story follows his self-discovery and the way God consistently works in his life. The show also presents redemption in family relationships, including a strained relationship that changes positively over time.
The series does not ignore the darkness surrounding crime. It includes violence, discussions of violence, sexual assault, drug use, addiction, and other wrongdoing. Yet immoral and criminal actions are never praised. The show’s central message is that people need God’s help, forgiveness, and the courage to pursue what is right.
Scripture calls believers to this same pattern of mercy: “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you” (Ephesians 4:32).
