Disney's follow-up to its 2016 hit is action-packed, laugh-out-loud funny, and gorgeously animated, the kind of sequel that earns its cheers instead of coasting on nostalgia. Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde's partnership is under fire from their own department, and watching them fight to prove it's worth saving is both funny and unexpectedly moving.

What makes it more than just a fun ride is what it believes. It's also, notably, a defense of pluralism built on shared values rather than sameness — closer to America's own "out of many, one" than to a flattening secular tolerance.
