The Story
NO SPOILERS — WE KEEP THE SURPRISESA horrific new weapon can devour everything in its path until a signal tells it to stop. When an elite convoy carrying the first four warheads is attacked, only Duke and Ripcord survive.
A special forces unit called G.I. Joe brings them to its secret base, where they train to join the team. But the villains soon attack, seize the warheads, and set off a larger conflict involving super-soldier technology, chases, battles, and intrigue.
Is It Any Good?
Four stars means this is a highly entertaining action thriller that delivers spectacle and momentum. It is “IRON MAN on steroids,” with heroes and villains battling in accelerator suits and using incredible weapons and tactics. The film makes soldiers look tough without relying on the “f” word.
Its greatest strength is clarity. The heroes act honorably, the villains are unmistakably despicable, and the movie builds its chases and battles around that conflict. The result is far-fetched but exciting, with the kind of forceful triumph over evil that action fans seek.
