Do you know the incredible true story behind the upcoming faith-filled movie HOME?
“This is the true story that inspired HOME. A faithful hero from the 1800s who took care of 10,000+ orphans,” an Instagram post from the movie’s account shared.
The post shared the story of George Müller, a man with a “tumultuous” early life that was changed after a friend took him to a Bible meeting when he was 20. Shortly after, he “opened his first orphan house;” within weeks, he had 26 children living there.
“He refused to ask for money,” the post continued. “No public appeals. He brought each need to God in prayer and relied on voluntary gifts to sustain the work.”

Now, Müller’s story is being told in HOME, a movie from Sean McNamara that stars Mike Vogel, Alexa PenaVega, Dennis Haysbert and Devon Franklin.
“HOME centers on Johnny J (Vogel), a charming con man sentenced to community service,” a synopsis from The Hollywood Reporter reads. “His path changes when he bonds with an immigrant child named Gustavo, and Johnny soon must risk everything to help protect the youngster and create a home for him.”
In a statement about the project, McNamara said, “HOME is a story about redemption, belonging and the unexpected ways we find purpose through other people. At its core, it’s about protecting those who need it most and redefining what family really means.”
In an Instagram video, Vogel shared what he hopes viewers take away from the movie.
“I think it’s easy; you see someone who’s hungry and you’re like, ‘Oh, man, someone should feed that person, that’s sad,’” he said. “But we have hands and feet, and I think the same way with foster kids and with orphans…the Bible gives the example to care for the widows and the fatherless.”
Vogel continued, “After people see this [movie] — not everyone is called [to become], or will be, a foster parent or adoptive parent, but we can all do something, you know, whether it’s serving on a weekend somewhere and giving some time helping the finances of an orphanage, or making the ultimate sacrifice and stepping in and being an adoptive parent, a foster parent, and I think that’s what I would love for people to walk away with.”
HOME premieres early 2027.
