Wonder Project just launched its first stand-up comedy slate, and comedian Sterling Scott says going family-friendly hasn’t cost the specials a single laugh.
“Comedy is blowing up. People are loving it right now,” Scott told The Christian Post. “If you only have R-rated stuff, you close off such a big audience. But by making it family-friendly, you welcome everyone.”
The Canadian comedian headlines GOOD DAYS, BETTER NIGHTS, one of six specials in WONDER PRESENTS: THE STAND-UPS, Wonder Project’s first foray into comedy programming on Prime Video. Movieguide® reported on the lineup back in June, when the weekly series launched July 2 with sets from Caroline Rhea, K. Trevor Wilson, Ola Dada, Zabrina Douglas and Erica Sigurdson alongside Scott’s. The series marks new ground for Wonder Project, the studio director Jon Erwin launched in 2023 and built into a home for projects like HOUSE OF DAVID, recently renewed for a third season after drawing more than 40 million viewers.
“When Wonder first asked me to be a part of this, I was first of all honored because the lineup of comedians that they had are truly top tier,” Scott said. “Then I was excited because it was an amazing opportunity…for a lot of talented Canadian comics that the world probably wouldn’t have seen without this project.”
Scott’s own path to the stage wasn’t smooth. He originally set out to act, then stumbled into comedy through an impromptu set at comedian Kenny Robinson’s Nubian Nights showcase in Toronto. Nearly two decades of studying the craft in Edmonton, Alberta, later, that detour led him here.
“I bombed. Did horrible,” Scott recalled. “From there, I realized what I had done wrong was that I didn’t respect the craft.”

His special takes its title from a mantra he lives by now as a husband and father, and much of his material draws on fatherhood and family stories he says felt like sitting around the Thanksgiving table long before he ever took them on stage.
“There’s only two things you can ask for in this world: a good day and a better night. Anything else is too much,” he said. “When I’m looking at life through that lens, it’s so much more fruitful than it was the other way.”
Scott also pushed back on the idea that clean comedy is somehow the lesser genre.
“Clean comedy is a genre. Dirty comedy is a genre,” he said. “Just because you like clean comedy, it doesn’t mean that the dirty comedy is not good…or that clean comics are less talented…I wasn’t trying to be clean. I was just telling you the truth, and it happened to be clean.”
Scott pointed to comedians like Nate Bargatze, who has described his own career as a calling from God, as proof that family-friendly comedy is having a real moment rather than just filling a gap.
“I want to do comedy through connection, not through dividing,” he added. “Through seeing that we all have flaws, we can realize that we can unite under the empathy that we all are flawed.”
Beneath the jokes, Scott hopes viewers walk away with something simple: love who you are, even on the way to becoming who you want to be.
