Reba McEntire’s tavern is open for business again.
“We’re officially back in production on the third season of #HappysPlace…it’s like a family reunion!” the Grammy-winning country music icon and executive producer wrote in an Aug. 14 Instagram post, confirming that cast and crew have started filming Season 3 of her NBC sitcom, HAPPY’S PLACE.
McEntire, who stars as tavern owner Bobbie, also nudged fans to catch up before the new episodes arrive. She encouraged viewers to “catch up on all episodes on @peacock before season 3 premieres this October on @nbc,” with NBC confirming the season premieres Friday, Oct. 23, at 8/7c.
Co-star Melissa Peterman, who plays Bobbie’s longtime friend Gabby, chimed in under McEntire’s post with an outpouring of enthusiasm of her own. She wrote, “So happy to be back!!!” alongside a string of hearts, a small window into a cast that by all accounts genuinely enjoys each other’s company on set.

HAPPY’S PLACE follows Bobbie as she inherits her late father’s Knoxville tavern, only to discover she’s inherited a business partner, too: a half-sister she never knew existed. The show marked McEntire’s first major television role since her self-titled sitcom REBA wrapped in 2007, and she’s said she built this one to recapture that same family-friendly spirit for a new generation. Real-life fiancé Rex Linn, whom McEntire has been engaged to for nearly two years, plays the tavern’s short-order cook, adding an extra layer of warmth to a cast that already reads like found family.
NBC renewed HAPPY’S PLACE for a third season back in February, well ahead of most network decisions. Lisa Katz, president of scripted content for NBC and Peacock, said at the time that “both shows have delivered comedic brilliance over their first two seasons, truly connecting with our audience with hilarious characters,” pairing the sitcom’s renewal news with fellow NBC comedy ST. DENIS MEDICAL.
Movieguide® has followed HAPPY’S PLACE since its 2024 premiere, and the show has consistently earned praise for wearing its values without apology. Movieguide®’s review of the pilot noted the sitcom “carries a surprisingly strong Christian and biblical heart,” pointing to a lead character who says she’ll let God sort out her anxieties, an episode that closes in prayer and a portrayal of family that lines up with Psalm 68:6: “God sets the lonely in families.” The review isn’t blind to the show’s rougher edges, either. An extramarital affair drives part of the plot, but Movieguide® noted it’s “treated as the wound it is” rather than played for laughs, and a character’s daytime drinking gets her chastised, not celebrated.
That combination, mild caution paired with genuine heart, has made HAPPY’S PLACE something of a rarity on network television: a show that’s unafraid to be sincere. With Season 3 now in production and a premiere date locked in for October, families who’ve stuck with McEntire’s tavern crew have a little over two months to catch up on Peacock before Bobbie, Gabby and the rest of the gang pour the next round.
