Actor and author Matthew McConaughey is giving readers another round of poems and prayers for the moments when holding on to belief takes a fight.

“It’s more poems, more prayers about a fight that I believe we’re all in, right?” he said in an announcement released on his YouTube channel Oct. 1. “And hopefully it’s the one for the light.”

That invitation comes with a new chapter. McConaughey announced Poems & Prayers: Deluxe Edition, expanding his collection with additional poems and prayers rather than simply sending the same book back to shelves in a different jacket.

Penguin Random House lists the hardcover for Nov. 17, 2026, with preorders available now. The 224-page edition also includes gilded edges, a satin ribbon marker, designed endpapers and foil detailing on the cover and spine.

But the more personal reason to pay attention lies beneath the packaging. In an interview RELEVANT published in April, McConaughey explained how writing poems and prayers helped him push back against a creeping cynicism he did not want to accept.

“I started feeling myself having more doubts than I was comfortable with,” he said.

The doubts reached beyond faith to his confidence in people, leadership and himself, according to the interview. Instead of treating that disillusionment as the final word, he put his thoughts on paper.

“At the end of the proverbial day, what I was writing were the poems and the prayers,” he said. “It was a relief from the arduous practical dealing with the day.”

For McConaughey, the collection did not mark the end of every question. He told RELEVANT that he reads one of his poems each morning, sometimes finding a reminder of why he wrote it and sometimes discovering something new.

That habit gives the new announcement a little more weight. His invitation to keep fighting for light follows an earlier account of making room for prayer when disappointment threatened to crowd out belief.

Prayer has long had a practical place in his life, too. In a separate RELEVANT interview published in 2020, he described attending church, reviewing his week and praying for the people he loves.

“I go to church once a week,” he said. “I go, I pray and I do inventory. I take a deep breath, understand myself as me being number two in God’s house, and go back through my week.”

He also described trying to picture loved ones at their most genuine, then praying that the good he saw in them could flourish. Turning that same attention toward himself proved harder, he told the outlet.

Those earlier conversations help explain why more prayers mean more than extra pages to McConaughey. His accounts connect prayer with examining his own life, caring about others and resisting the temptation to give up on what he believes.

McConaughey’s hope for Poems & Prayers: Deluxe Edition is clear: that the fight ahead leads toward the light.
