PHIL OF THE FUTURE star Raviv Ullman opened up about the end of the popular children’s show.
“We aired in 2004. I think that was when it first premiered,” he said in a conversation with Joseph Shepherd.
Ullman, who starred as the titular Phil, shared that, while the show was popular, “It wasn’t like this ‘everybody knew it’ and we couldn’t go out in public — it wasn’t the HANNAH MONTANA thing.”
“We were proud of that show,” he continued. “We had a great team of writers, really smart people, and I looked up to all of them.”
However, PHIL OF THE FUTURE came to an end after its second season, which both viewers and the series’ cast found disappointing.
“I’d worked long enough that I knew no job was a forever job. Everything comes to an end,” Ullman explained. “It was definitely sad to hear that we weren’t [coming back for Season 3], but mostly because we enjoyed each other’s company so much and, you know, if you’re a performer, you want to work and we wanted to return…there’s always a disappointment when a show doesn’t go on if it’s something that you love doing.”

PHIL OF THE FUTURE might have ended abruptly, but Ullman is always up for another go-round.
“If they came calling [for a reboot], I would of course say yes,” the actor told PEOPLE. “I have a lot of love for the PHIL OF THE FUTURE crew and cast. I still keep in touch and contact with [costars] Aly [Michalka] and Amy [Bruckner] and the whole gang, and I’m a big fan of what we did.”
He continued, “If there was ever a time to revisit it, of course, but we’re so proud of the show that we made and that people are still talking about it today, it’s a gift.”
Speaking to E! News about the legacy of PHIL OF THE FUTURE, the actor shared, “What I’ve noticed now is that [fans who approach me are] whoever was watching Disney Channel at that time. So the people who do recognize me, it’s because that show is such a huge part of their childhood. The breadth is a smaller group of people now but, in a way, it’s more meaningful.”
“It was a part of their childhood,” he added. “I look back on the shows that I grew up on and I know where I was when I was watching them. I would love to live that life now, go to school, come back, eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and watch my favorite TV shows.”
While there is no PHIL OF THE FUTURE reboot in the works, Ullman is proud of the work he and the rest of the crew did on the original series.
