Singer and actress MŌRIAH and award-winning composer Grant Fonda are lending their voices to the soundtrack of JIMMY, the upcoming biopic starring actor KJ Apa as Hollywood legend Jimmy Stewart, producers announced Aug. 5.
The movie, which traces Stewart’s turn from Hollywood’s biggest star to decorated combat pilot, premieres nationwide Nov. 6 through Fathom Entertainment.
“There are some stories that stay with you long after the screen goes dark,” MŌRIAH said. “JIMMY is one of those stories. Getting to sing the movie’s original song, ‘Home to Me,’ as a tribute to Jimmy Stewart, has been such an honor.”
Movieguide® has followed JIMMY since Apa’s first look in character, and the studio has consistently leaned into Stewart’s faith-shaped humility as much as his heroism. MŌRIAH’s comments carry that thread forward, framing Stewart’s legacy around quiet conviction rather than fame.
“Jimmy Stewart wasn’t just an unforgettable actor,” she said. “He was known for being humble and courageous with a quiet conviction – the kind of person whose legacy feels increasingly rare and deeply worth celebrating today.”
JIMMY covers the most transformative season of Stewart’s life, from his Best Actor Oscar for THE PHILADELPHIA STORY to 20 combat missions over Europe with the US Army Air Corps, and finally to the role of George Bailey in IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE. Neal McDonough, Max Casella, Jason Alexander and Christopher McDonald round out the cast.
MŌRIAH performs the movie’s original song, “Home to Me,” written by Natalie Layne and Bernie Herms and produced by Herms, whose credits include work with Josh Groban and Andrea Bocelli.
Fonda, the great-great-grandnephew of Henry Fonda, one of Stewart’s closest real-life friends, composed the movie’s score and a new arrangement of “Puttin’ on the Ritz.”

“Creating the score for JIMMY was a delight from the very first conversations about the project,” Fonda said. “Much of Jimmy’s real-life journey intersected with my own as a creative and the grandson of a war veteran, giving me the opportunity to write an emotionally potent score that I believe transcends generations.”
Fonda, whose credits include the Emmy-winning THE HOUSE THAT ROB BUILT and Amazon’s EXMAS, recently received the Spirit of Windrider Award at the Sundance Film Festival. He recorded the score at Bandrika Studios with a team of Los Angeles musicians.
JIMMY’s director, Aaron Burns, said Fonda’s involvement mattered for a soundtrack meant to bridge eras.
“Grant Fonda represents the best tradition of Hollywood melding the past and the present,” Burns said.
The soundtrack also includes “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” performed by cast member Kara Killmer alongside the US Air Forces in Europe Band, plus 1940s standards like “Ain’t She Sweet” and “Someone to Watch Over Me,” produced by Nathan Walters.
“We wanted to create a soundtrack for JIMMY that would stand the test of time,” said Barry Landis, president of Pivot Music and the movie’s musical supervisor, in a press release. “We found that in MŌRIAH, Grant Fonda and the US Air Forces in Europe Band.”
Producer Angela Galgani Sullivan said the filmmakers wanted the music to reflect both halves of Stewart’s life.
“The music featured in JIMMY not only brings back timeless classics, but introduces a new generation of fans to the music and feeling of the 1940s,” Sullivan said.
A music video for “Home to Me,” directed by Diego Cacho, is now in production with Papaian Studios, a faith-focused media company. An EP featuring the full score and soundtrack arrives alongside the movie in November.
