Pop singer Mike Posner shared an important lesson he recently learned from scripture.
“I was just reading Romans, Paul’s letter to Romans…and I think it’s kind of interesting for a lot of different reasons,” he said in an Instagram video. “But this Chapter 14 in Romans tripped me out because he goes, ‘One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. Let not the one who eats, despise the one who abstains. Let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him.’”
Posner continued, “And this just tripped me out, because we’re always talking about, ‘eat vegan, eat carnivore, eat this, eat that’…but Paul says it doesn’t matter. The things that really matter are love, and that’s on a different dimension. And he says don’t get into arguments about little things. We’re here to love each other. So keep going.”

The “Cooler Than Me” singer recently celebrated his baptism, writing on social media to fans, “A year ago, I got down on my knees and gave my life to Christ. What is interesting is what happened afterwards.”
Posner said he wasn’t initially sure what he believed, but after reading works by Mother Theresa and C.S. Lewis and studying scripture, he found that his beliefs were “filled in for me.”
“FOR ME; to be a Christian means to aspire with all your mind, body and soul to live as Christ did…It means to forgive every single person in my life including me and LOVE CHRIST BY LOVING PEOPLE,” he wrote. “It’s not just a doctrine or theology, it’s a way of life rooted in faith. For me, if it isn’t causing me to LOVE MORE PEOPLE MORE FULLY, it isn’t God.”
Posner continued, “A few weeks ago, I was baptized. Christ has not made my life or my heart smaller, but much, much bigger. I’m working on developing more and more of a personal relationship with God.”
The singer-songwriter has been open about his struggle with depression, especially after finding fame in the music industry. Today, he shares encouraging messages with anyone else feeling a lack of hope.
In a guest column he wrote for Variety, Posner wrote, “If you’re reading this and you’re in a challenging chapter, remember, it’s never too late to change your story. You have no idea how good it could get in the next few years. Keep going.”
Posner’s recent post shows how the pop artist is continuing to engage with his faith, learning something new every day.
