Korn rocker Brian Welch recently reminded his social media followers “we’re all equal” in the eyes of God.

“Here’s a reminder for you: it is not about us going to the holy man, the man of God who is more clean, more righteous, more acceptable to God than us. It’s about us going to God ourselves,” Welch said in a video he posted to X.

He continued, “We’re all equal on a level playing field. Christ says, ‘Go into your closet, close the door, pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.’ We’ve got to get it out of our minds that other people are considered higher spiritually than us. We’re all the same. Level playing field.”

Welch encouraged his followers to “go into that secret place that only God sees” and “pray to your Father in secret and He will reward you openly when you come out of the closet. It’s time to come out of the closet!”

In a 2025 interview, Welch encouraged people to pursue a relationship with Christ, telling the Christian Post, “Christ…is a real heart-to-heart relationship. It’s your heart connected spiritually in union with Christ’s heart.”

“He [Jesus] leads you to Himself by kindness while acknowledging your flaws,” he added.

Welch continued, “It’s never about taking the fun away in your life. It’s about getting the things in your life out, completely out of your life so that you can have a healthier form of existence on this planet. It’s never about taking things away from you so that you have a more boring life, but He leads you by kindness; He leads you to acknowledge your flaws, and then He empowers you to lay those flaws down.”

In a 2020 interview with Evangelical Focus, Welch shared his advice for others seeking a relationship with God.

“The big thing is that the Holy Spirit will teach you and you can go to the Scriptures yourself. That was a big help,” he said. “There is an open door directly to God, directly to Jesus Christ….If you have your relationship with God yourself, you will have a strong peace in the midst of devastation or loss of job or sickness. You will have this hope, this firm foundation. It is an anchor for the soul, as it says in the Bible.”

Welch’s recent video is a reminder that nothing is stopping us from connecting with God ourselves and that His arms are always open to us.
