TOP GEAR star Jeremy Clarkson considers himself the “world’s luckiest man” as he is in remission from cancer.
“I am without a doubt, officially, the world’s luckiest man,” he told The Sunday Times.
Fans’ reaction to his cancer diagnosis “landed harder than I thought it would.”
In the final episode of Season 5 of CLARKSON’S FARM, the TV personality revealed he had an aggressive form of prostate cancer.
“I’ll have to go and have an operation and then, the operation is in and out in no time, but your body’s out of action for a little while,” Clarkson said, per Variety. The cancer was first discovered last May.
Even though the cancer was deemed “aggressive,” the doctors reassured him that they caught it “really early.”

“So we started Season 5 in a hospital bed and here we are at the end of Season 5, I’m back in a hospital bed,” he told viewers during the episode, referring to the heart operation he had earlier. “Some of the treatment has gone awry, let’s say. I’ll probably be here for a little while.”
“What I wanted to say was: if this is all successful, I’ll see you for Season 6. And if it isn’t, I won’t. Take care, everyone,” he added.
According to Variety, a “follow-up test taken two months ago showed no indication of cancer, though he acknowledged that 40% of those who get prostate cancer once will get it again.”
“I try to be positive,” Clarkson said. “I’ve decided to be one of the 60% who doesn’t have a recurrence.”
In a video shared on social media last week, Clarkson told his followers that the final two episodes of CLARKSON’S FARM would be difficult to watch.
“I got some good news and some somber news. Good news is that Hawkeston has finally had an advert accepted, and it’ll be shown just before kickoff in the England match tomorrow evening,” he said in the video. “Somber news, CLARKSON’S FARM. Ordinarily we try to keep the show bucolic and charming and cheerful, but the final two episodes, which drop in the middle of the night tonight, are then none of those things really there. There are difficult watch. They’re really, really difficult.”
He urged others to get checked, too.
“This is why I have to say to everybody who’s reading this, please, please, please go and get checked,” Clarkson told The Times. “It’s not uncomfortable, it’s not undignified. And it’s a no-brainer. I did, and that’s why I’m sitting here talking to you 11 months down the line.”
