The God Behind Bars ministry captured a sweet moment of 14 incarcerated dads dancing in tuxedos to Forrest Frank’s “YOUR WAY’S BETTER” for their children.
“These incarcerated fathers SURPRISED their children and learned @hiforrest dance ‘Your Way’s Better!’ They practiced for weeks for this moment! For some of these children this is the FIRST memory they have of their fathers…that is why these dads practiced so hard!” the ministry shared alongside a video on Instagram.
The last time one of the dads, Kai, saw his daughter was when she was three months old.
“Now, she’s 4 years old. After spending the last 4 years behind bars, he was finally given the opportunity to hold her again at this God Behind Bars Father Child Dance,” God Behind Bars revealed in another post on Instagram.

“He had missed birthdays, milestones and so many moments no father ever wants to miss, but for one unforgettable day, he got to simply be Dad,” the post continued. “They laughed together, danced together and made memories they’ll carry with them forever. Moments like these remind us that restoration is possible, hope is real and family is always worth fighting for. Just a father and daughter. Just a MIRACLE!”
Another dad also hadn’t seen his daughter in four years.
“For the first time since he was incarcerated, she saw him, not in a prison uniform, but in a tuxedo.❤️ In a moment that had NEVER happened before inside this federal prison, they held each other and shared a father-daughter dance. Some reunions don’t just create memories…they begin healing,” God Behind Bars shared.
Other families experienced miracles that day.
“This little girl had never seen her daddy in a tuxedo…only in a prison uniform. After 5 years behind bars, serving a 20-year sentence, this father experienced a miracle,” the ministry posted on Instagram. “For the first time, he was allowed to take off his prison clothes and wear a tuxedo for a father child dance. They hadn’t seen each other in 5 months…until this moment. They ran to each other. They danced. They cried. They held each other all day. Just a father and daughter. Just a MIRACLE!”
Through tuxedoes, dance routines and tears of joy, the God Behind Bars event transformed a cold prison space into a place of redemption and hope. It served as a reminder that no mistake can erase a father’s capacity to love and that true restoration begins when families are given the grace, opportunity and faith to heal together.
