FIXER TO FABULOUS star Jenny Marrs is asking fans to pray for Teal Esmeyer, a young St. Jude patient whose family received a 24-hour home makeover from Marrs, her husband and co-host, Dave Marrs, and a community of volunteers.

“Praying for miracles to unfold today within those walls,” Marrs wrote on Instagram earlier this week.

The request comes after the renovation brought the Esmeyers a pool, a playhouse and a fresh start at home. This week, Marrs said the family had received difficult medical news, and she turned to Scripture while praying for the little girl.

“Our family is currently desperately praying for our precious St Jude build kiddo from last summer, Teal, as her parents recently received a devastating medical update,” the HGTV star said.

Marrs did not describe that update, but she shared a reflection on the prophet Elisha and the reminder that God’s help is not limited to what people can see, widening her prayer to the children inside St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.

“He is right there in the midst of every battle and we can hold onto Hope even if it feels like the enemy has the upper hand,” Marrs continued.

For viewers who remember the Esmeyers’ renovation, the connection is especially personal. TV Insider reported that the family’s appeared on Season 7 of FIXER TO FABULOUS, when Jenny and Dave brought their own five children into the effort to transform the home.

In her January account of the project, Jenny explained that Teal had undergone multiple brain surgeries because of a tumor. Teal and her father, Bo, had spent five months at St. Jude while her mother, Dru, stayed home with Teal’s younger brother, Judd.

Volunteer organizer Jay Cobb, a former St. Jude patient, brought together donors and more than 150 volunteers for the build, Jenny wrote. The goal was to give the reunited family a place to rest and enjoy being together.

The team designed Teal’s playhouse around her love of art and a princess theme, with storage for art supplies, a pull-down desk and some of her own artwork on the walls. They built it off-site and used a crane to lift it over the main house into the backyard.

The kitchen gained a more open layout and a cozy dining area, while the backyard’s new pool fulfilled a wish Jenny said mattered most to Teal. Those were practical gifts, but the volunteers’ presence mattered, too.

“We are immensely grateful and humbled to be able to be a part of such a powerful weekend,” Jenny wrote in a January post about the renovation.

Please keep Teal and her family in your prayers.
