Scottie Scheffler, the world’s No. 1 golfer, proved once again why he’s the best in the business, winning the FedEx championship on Sunday by the largest margin in the tournament’s history.
Even though he won big, and it was his first win since January, Scheffler gave God all the glory.
“I’m a faithful guy. I believe in a creator. I believe in Jesus. Ultimately, I think that’s what defines me the most,” he declared after the tournament, per Relevant Magazine. “Yeah, I feel like I’ve been given a platform to compete, and you know, show my talent. It’s not anything that I did.”
“I think I sat up here a couple years ago doing the interview after the 2022 Masters, and it’s like, yeah, I was underprepared for what was about to happen,” Scheffler reflected, discussing winning his first Master’s tournament. “I didn’t know what was going to happen. I was very anxious that morning. I didn’t know what to expect, and it’s hard to describe the feeling.”
“But I think that’s what defines me the most is my faith. You know, I believe in one Creator, and I’ve been called to come out here, do my best, compete and glorify God, and that’s pretty much it,” he emphasized.
Scheffler won the Master’s again in 2024. Speaking to the media after, he shared that his friends encouraged him to focus on what really matters — his faith.

“My buddies told me this morning, ‘My victory was secure on the cross.’ And that’s a pretty special feeling to know that I’m secure for forever and it doesn’t matter if I win this tournament or lose this tournament. My identity is secure for forever,” the golfer stated.
No matter how many tournaments he wins, though, none of his golf success truly satisfies.
“This is not a fulfilling life,” Scheffler told ESPN in 2025. “It’s fulfilling from the sense of accomplishment, but it’s not fulfilling from a sense of the deepest places of your heart.”
“Is it great to be able to win tournaments and to accomplish the things I have in the game of golf? Yeah, it brings tears to my eyes just to think about it because I’ve literally worked my entire life to be good at this sport,” he continued
“You win it, you celebrate, get to hug my family, my sister’s there, it’s such an amazing moment. Then it’s like, OK, what are we going to eat for dinner? Life goes on,” Scheffler added. “It feels like you work your whole life to celebrate winning a tournament for like a few minutes. It only lasts a few minutes.”
As Scheffler prepares for the BMW Championship this weekend, he’s eager to go for another win, but he knows that no matter what happens, his identity is secure in Christ.
