Country superstar Carrie Underwood just made a surprise appearance at a local Tennessee church to sing with the choir.

“Carrie Underwood joins the choir during Sunday worship at Rolling Hills Community Church in Franklin, Tennessee,” a video of the singer performing “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” was captioned

Underwood also sang “What A Beautiful Name” alongside the church choir.

The country star often speaks about her Christian faith. During a recent AMERICAN IDOL episode, Underwood praised contestants who performed a worship song.

“I know how difficult it is to come into the entertainment industry and bring your faith with you,” she told them after they were done singing. “It is a brave thing to do because there are a lot of outside forces that are going to tell you not to do that. I want to tell you that I’m proud of you guys.”

It’s advice she often gives Christian contestants on AMERICAN IDOL. In an interview with The Christian Post earlier this year, Underwood said she tells performers with strong faith, “You don’t have to…sell your soul to make it in the entertainment industry. You are going to have to stand strong in your faith and remember who got you here, because it wasn’t you.”

She also praised ABC and AMERICAN IDOL for adding the “Songs of Faith”-themed episode to the season lineup.

“I mean, what’s not to love [about this night]?” Underwood asked. “I respect ABC and AMERICAN IDOL so much for being bold in this theme, because it’s not easy. I feel like in the world of entertainment in general … it’s not easy.”

She continued, “But I also love that it was a gentle way. It’s songs of faith, and it was kind of what that means to you as hopeful. So it’s not like we were making everybody sing about Jesus. It’s kind of like you could take that and sing something inspirational that means something to you.”

It was recently announced that Underwood will open SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL for the 14th season in a row.

“This year’s show open welcomes SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL into my ongoing rock star fever dream,” she said in a press release about the show. “Once again, Tripp [SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL show open creative director] and the incredible team behind the camera brought it to life in a whole new way that captures the spirit of this iconic song and the heart of rock ‘n’ roll.  It’s one of my most favorite opens yet!”

Whether she’s rocking out onstage for the football season open or singing at church, Underwood is always using her voice to uplift others and share her faith.
