Alexa PenaVega is sharing a morning prayer that helps her focus on appreciating what she has.
“I want us to be really practicing gratitude this morning so, even if you’re in a hurry…or you are just sitting down, drinking your coffee…gratitude just changes everything,” she said in a recent Instagram video.
The SPY KIDS actress than shared the prayer she says to show gratitude: “I like to thank God for every muscle in my body, every organ, every cell, my bones, for every hair on my head, for a functioning body, for an immune system that works, for my incredible children, for my family, for my community, for the church that I attend, the house over my head.”
“What’s funny is, you think of all these things, [and] you realize, ‘Oh, my gosh, I have so much more to be thankful for than I even realized 30 seconds ago,’” PenaVega continued, adding. “So, try it.”

The actress has previously shared prayers and phrases that she uses to start her day off on the right foot. In an Instagram video, PenaVega told her followers, “You should be speaking scripture over your life every single day.”
She then shared a phrase she focuses on: “I delight myself in the Lord, and He gives me the desires of my heart. In all my ways, I acknowledge Him and He makes my path straight. For sickness, He gives me health, for poverty, He gives me wealth, and for death, He gives me eternal life.”
“Say those again and again, all throughout the day,” she said. “It just transforms everything.”
PenaVega is known for her work as a child star in movies like SPY KIDS and THE ADVENTURES OF SHARKBOY AND LAVAGIRL. She recently took time to share a reflection on the recent deaths of so many of her peers, including former child stars Hayden Panettiere, Michelle Trachtenberg and Daveigh Chase.
“These aren’t just names from my childhood,” she wrote. “They’re girls I grew up alongside, sharing a world that was exciting and also incredibly hard. We were kids navigating something so big, and not everyone had the foundation or support they deserved.”
PenaVega continued, “Today, I’m grieving and holding their families close in my prayers and thinking of everyone still fighting battles we can’t see. Hug your people close today.”
PenaVega’s prayer is a helpful way to begin your day with a positive mindset, appreciating all your blessings.
