“Sphinx” is the second episode of THE ADVENTURES OF PUSS IN BOOTS series. Puss wants to reward the orphans for their good work in helping stop some thieves and decides to bake them a special treat. However, he accidentally poisons them and must travel to far lands to find the cure. Guarding the cure is a mystical sphinx, and the only way to get it is to correctly guess the answer to a riddle.
“Sphinx” is a very funny follow-up to the first episode in the series. It has much more depth and an even better story line. A new character, the Sphinx, is introduced, and she brings great laughs to the show with her comical attitude. There is some very light action violence where Puss teaches the orphans to fight grown men, along with some mild physical blows. Also, there is a scene with a bar where prisoners “drink” on screen. Only later do viewers find out they are drinking milkshakes. Overall, “Sphinx” is an improvement over the dull, lifeless first episode, and still has a strong moral worldview.
