What You Need To Know

THE JOB opens up just after a Catholic mass. Later, while Danny Reagan and his family are driving, their car hits a man fleeing from a gunman. The family gets caught in the crossfire when Danny draws his gun to stop the gunman. The question is, who was the perpetrator of the crime?

At the same time, Danny’s father, Frank, the police commissioner for New York City, is trying to deal with the loss of a friend of his who was injured on 9/11. Also, Frank’s daughter is trying to help her daughter appreciate her job as a prosecutor. The plot problem with Danny resulted from a man trying to kill the man who molested his son.

In showing these three strands, praying to God and trusting Good’s plan is emphasized. Also, in a final church funeral speech, there’s a speech about 9/11 and and Irish prayer ending with God holding you in the palm of His hand.

These stories are very well done. There’s a lot of focus on faith and family in this episode. All of this is in the context of an Irish police family dealing with the criminal elements in New York City. The program is resolved through faith in God and showing kindness to one another.
